Is It Easy to Prevent Stains on Your Composite Resin?

Posted on 7/23/2020 by Nicholas Dose
Is It Easy to Prevent Stains on Your Composite Resin?Due to one dental problem or the other, many people have opted to get composite resins on their teeth to give them that beautiful smile they have been looking for. Although these resins are made of materials which are harder to discolor, they do stain over time. People who often drink highly pigmented drinks such as coffee, tea, red wine, and smokers can get some stains on their composite resins over time. However, there are proven ways to keep these teeth as white as you can and prevent staining. But first, you have to understand how composite bonding works.

Composite Resin Bonding

Composite bonding is a cosmetic technique we use for people who want a cosmetic solution to otherwise healthy teeth. In this procedure, we mold the composite resin onto your teeth to provide you with a smile that's whiter and straighter. Unlike their porcelain counterparts, we only need you for a single session to get this done.

Preventing Stains on Composite Resins

Preventing any stains from forming on these teeth is the best practice for keeping them white for as long as possible. In a nutshell, this means keeping up with your brushing and flossing schedules. Although our objective is to keep the composite resin stain-free, you mustn't brush the teeth using too much force or a toothbrush with tough bristles. Look for a toothbrush with soft but firm bristles as it should do the trick.

Also, remember that plaque and food particles can easily get stuck between the composite resins. As such, ensure that you have flossed your teeth at least once every day and remember to position the floss horizontally as opposed to vertically. Even though most people think that their composite resins will stay bright and white forever, they are shocked when they start to discolor. Taking care of your composite resins as though it was the real enamel will keep it looking good for a long time. For help keeping your resin white, call our office.
