Like everyone else, our office had to make some updates to provide even more enhanced patient safety in Lake Oswego following the outbreak of COVID-19. This is just a highlight of some of the training and new measures we have added for extra protection for safe dentistry for all. Before you come to the office for an appointment, we will be asking you a series of health-related questions to gauge how you’re currently feeling and your risk of exposure to COVID-19. We ask that if you or someone in your household is showing signs of a cough or fever that you reschedule. When you arrive at the office for your appointment, you can opt for a “virtual” waiting room in your car, and we’ll call you to enter the office. We ask that any companions please wait in the car to ensure safe dentistry. Once inside, we’ll take your temperature and ask you to sanitize your hands. We will provide you with a mask if you do not have one with you.
Inside the office, we’ve removed anything that’s not easily disinfected and conduct frequent wipe downs of all common areas, bathrooms, door handles, tables, lights, computers, etc. Once your treatment is complete, our team gets to work cleaning and disinfecting all non-disposable medical equipment using cleaner and water to pre-clean surfaces before applying an EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectant to frequently touched surfaces.
Special precautions will be taken when performing aerosol-generating procedures using aerosol reducing equipment. After all patients have been cared for, we clean and disinfect the office from top to bottom at the end of each day. Please note that any changes or new ways of doing things are based on the helpful guidelines set up by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Dental Association, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
