Are you looking to reduce your environmental footprint when it comes to how you care for your teeth?
Consider an eco-friendly toothbrush, as more options are coming onto the market. Keep these considerations in mind the next time that you are searching for a brush.
Bamboo
Bamboo toothbrushes like those made by Brush with Bamboo consist of a bamboo handle and BPA-free bristles. These brushes come within a paper box that is completely biodegradable, and the company has recently switched to a plant-based cellulose wrapper in order to move away from wrappers made out of polylactic acid that is derived from corn.
Recycling Preserve
These toothbrushes are produced in the U.S. and are 100% recycled plastic. About 25-65% of the plastic used to make them come from Stonyfield Farm yogurt containers, and the rest is returned to the company via their recycling program. This toothbrush costs a whopping $3 and features a bent handle and soft Nylon bristles.
The brushes will also come shipped in a package that serves a premade mailer for which you can send the brush back to the manufacturer to have it recycled once you are done using it. They also have a junior version of the brush for children.
The Environmental Toothbrush
This toothbrush is produced in China, although it was designed in Australia. It features Nylon bristles and a bamboo handle, and it is packaged in a compostable cardboard box with a polypropylene inner wrapping.
The company boasts that the bristles are biodegradable in soil within four months, while other types of nylon are not. Most of the packaging is also compostable.
